Here are some things we do to stimulate our puppies as we raise them in a healthy environment. We start with doctor visits and check ups during the pregnancy. Then we continue with the doctor visits once they are a couple of weeks old . We train our puppies early using positive reinforcement techniques, by using play time to teach and engage the puppies. We also socialize our puppies from the very beginning by introducing them to different people, animals, and environments to help them become well adjusted and confident, which is crucial for preventing behavioral problems later in life.

I prefer not to use chemicals to treat fleas and other biting insects. On the dogs, I have diatomaceous earth, which is absolutely harmless to pets.  (It kills insects by getting in their joints and making microtears.)  For the yard, you can find many alternative treatments that are nontoxic. Several garden plants are known for their insect-repelling properties.
