Early Socialization
Socialization begins long before our puppies leave for their forever home. As they grow, we gently introduce them to the sites, sounds, smiles, textures, people, and everyday experiences of a home environment. These early experiences help them become confident, well – adjusted and ready for life with their new families.
Everyday Sound
They become familiar with normal household, sounds like vacuum, cleaners, doorbell, voices of children laughing playing and running around, & Adults talking. And lots of other sounds that we hear daily.
House Training
To set A Puppy up for success we use the mother dog and her instincts to help us teach the puppies where to use the bathroom from the moment they can walk, which is usually around 3 to 3 1/2 weeks of age and by five weeks they learn how to go outside to the bathroom.
Grooming Introduction
We gently introduced brushing, nail trimming, and basic grooming, so future grooming and vet visits are easier for the puppy and Owner, so there experience at appointments will be stress-free and successful.
Gradually Building Confidence
Confidence in a puppy is built gradually through many small, positive experiences—not by forcing a puppy into situations that scare them.
How We Help Build Confidence in our Puppies
1. Gentle handling
From an early age, puppies experience gentle touching of their paws, ears, body, and coat. This helps them become comfortable being handled by people.
2. Safe exploration
As puppies become mobile, we give them opportunities to explore age-appropriate surfaces, textures, toys, and spaces. Letting a puppy investigate at their own pace helps build curiosity.
3. Positive experiences with people
Calm, pleasant interaction teaches puppies that people are safe and that human attention can be rewarding.
4. Everyday sounds
Gradually introducing normal household sounds—voices, doors, appliances, toys, and other everyday noises—can help puppies become familiar with the world around them.
5. Play and problem-solving
Age-appropriate play gives puppies opportunities to investigate, interact, and figure things out. Successfully navigating little challenges can help develop confidence.
6. Learning from Mom and littermates
Puppies learn a tremendous amount from their mother and siblings. Appropriate interaction helps them learn communication, play behavior, and boundaries.
7. Grooming and veterinary preparation
Gentle introductions to brushing, paw handling, nail care, and other routine handling can make unfamiliar experiences less intimidating later.
8. Letting the puppy set the pace
This is perhaps the most important part. If something is new or concerning, we don’t want to overwhelm the puppy. We give them time, support them, and allow them to approach when they’re ready.
The goal isn’t a fearless puppy.
A confident puppy can still be cautious about something new. Confidence means the puppy has learned that they can investigate, recover, and feel safe.
“Confidence grows from little victories.” 🐾
Every new sound, gentle touch, playful discovery, and safe exploration gives a puppy another opportunity to learn, “I can do this.” Our goal is to give each puppy positive experiences that help them approach their new world with curiosity, security, and confidence.
